Informationen zum Autor Penny grew up in Melbourne, Australia. After finishing a degree in film and creative writing at the University of Melbourne she got on a plane to London and twenty years later she is still here. After many years working as an Interiors and Lifestyle photographer, Penny began writing again. She has contributed to many popular parenting blogs, online newspapers, Red magazine and had an essay published in a travel anthology about traveling with kids. She lives in south London with her two children. Klappentext Penny Wincer has twice been a carer: first to her mother and now as a single mother to her austistic son. Tender weaves personal experience with research into resilience, perfectionism and self compassion to offer transformative tools and insights for navigating a situation many of us are either facing or will face in the future. The number of 'invisible' carers among us is rising all the time. These are the unpaid and underepresented who may find themselves caring for another, whether it's a parent, child or partner. And often while working, studying and looking after others too. What it means to care shows up in different guises and encounters varying challenges and expectations. But caring for a loved one calls for a crucial understanding: the need to look after oneself and to cultivate qualities that seek not to fix but rather to reframe what it means to live a good life. Whatever obstacles we face as we care, Tender provides an honest and hopeful perspective that leads the way to acceptance, compassion and, ultimately, joy.
