Based on a True Story from WW2

Peter Toscanini's life as an undercover agent depended on the subterfuge, so meticulously planned and systematized, being believed. Something terrible happened to his heart and mind during October of 1944. Having fought off near-fatal physical and psychological blows within weeks of each other, the young Navy lieutenant emerged knowing more clearly he was and the cold steel from which he was made. First Peter had been assigned to solve the murderous plot of the Mad Ghoul and capture the man responsible. Once that assignment was completed, he was allowed a furlough to see his high school sweetheart who had been sent to a Japanese-American Internment Camp with her family, only to find she had given her heart to someone else. Heartbroken and weary, Toscanini found himself thrown into a new assignment, to infiltrate the Camp Elliot brig as a prisoner to learn the identity of yet another murderer of Marine recruit inmates.
