Su destino estaba escrito, pero decidió luchar por cambiarlo. Una historia sobre el ascenso social de una criada a principios del siglo XX.

Nos remontamos a 1907, cuando Manuela, una inocente y analfabeta chica de quince años, empieza a trabajar para la familia más rica de Terreros, un pueblo de Aragón. Para cualquier chica de su condición se trata de una oportunidad única de escapar de trabajos mucho más duros. Al entrar en la Casa Grande intenta pasar desapercibida, pero pronto hará gran amistad con Inés, la hija más joven de la familia, que le enseñará a leer, y se enamorará de Javier, el más alocado de los hermanos.

Empieza a gestarse un amor imposible y trágico por el cual será despedida y se enemistará para siempre con doña Amelia, la madre de la familia. Javier parte a Cuba y Manuela rehace su vida, consiguiendo éxito en sus empresas hasta que, justo antes de empezar la Guerra Civil, descubre algo que le hará recordar su pasado...

At the beginning of the 20th century, among the green fields of the Aragonese vineyards, stands a noble house belonging to the Prado de Sanchís family. When Manuela starts working there as a servant, she knows that this is her only chance to escape the miserable fate that has been imposed on her by her humble background.

A secret romance surrounded by family intrigues.

Surrounded by jealousy and family conflicts, and avoiding the lady of the house's watchful eye, Manuela indulges in a forbidden love that will turn her life upside-down and force her to fight more than ever to carve out her own future.

A secret from the past that can change everything.

Years later, when Manuela seems to have overcome her difficult childhood memories, a big secret will come to light. It is then, that she must unearth a past full of struggles, love, and passion.

About the author

Ángeles Gil es diplomada en Relaciones Laborales y Recursos Humanos por la Universidad de Barcelona y trabaja desde hace años en un despacho de abogados, pero su gran pasión siempre han sido la lectura y la escritura. Tras cursar el ciclo de novela en la Escuela de Escritura del Ateneu Barcelonès durante cuatro años, escribió esta novela, inspirada en la historia de su bisabuela. Actualmente ya está trabajando en un nuevo proyecto.
