The concrete industry is one of the largest consumers of natural resources due to which sustainability of concrete industry is under threat. The environmental and economic concern is the biggest challenge concrete industry is facing. This paper is totally concentrated on the materials to be used as a replacement of cement and antibiofouling activity for the concrete. In this work the strength of concrete is tested after replacing cement with 5% to 10% of Coconut shell ash (CSA), Rice husk ash (RHA), Groundnut shell ash (GSA) in the concrete mix and then evaluated for the antibiofouling activity of the concrete with replaced materials by using zinc oxide nanomaterial in the ratio of 5% of its total weight. In the biofouling activity test the antibiofouling property of zinc nitrate nanomaterial is also evaluated.

Mrs. Kavisri Moovendhan completed M.E., Hydrology and Water Resource Engineering in CEG Campus, Anna University. Currently is pursuing a PhD, in the same discipline and working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Civil Engineering, School of Building and Environment, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology.
