God's people perish for the lack of knowledge. Christians need more than just hearing a sermon every Sunday, repeating the sinner's prayer, and then thinking that now since they are saved, the enemy (the devil) will leave them alone. God's people have specific issues that need to be specifically addressed. A lot of ministries do not take the time to minister the people into total deliverance and freedom from bondage.
