The hotel business is a fast-paced life, where days run into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years. The doors never close, and the guests keep coming. Addresses may change of the players in the game and the employees may change, but most people in the hotel industry would not think of having a career in any other profession.
About the author
Al DeBerry is a seasoned hotelier with more than 35 years’ experience in the hotel industry. He started his career as a front desk clerk working overnight shifts while attending college to then becoming General Manager of his first hotel at the young age of 21. He went on to thrive in many different roles in the hotel business including Area Director, Company Vice-President and ultimately owner of a hotel. “The Life of a Hotelier” represents his first ten years in the hotel business from 1985 – 1996 (The GM Years) and the stories that came along during those years.
Mr. DeBerry also has a heart for serving and giving back to the industry. He has been on the Board of Directors of multiple hospitality related organizations during his career including: Texas Hotel & Lodging Association, Hotel Association of Tarrant County (Texas), and the Texas Travel Industry Association. In 2015 he created and founded The Hotel Association, a locally based hospitality organization in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The American Hotel & Lodging Association named Mr. DeBerry as their 2010 Leadership Award Winner for The State of Texas.

- Interviews scheduled for April of 2020 with multiple different podcasts and print publications within the Dallas Fort Worth area then expand to larger audiences across the country.
- Multiple ownership groups and hotel management companies will be contacted as the first lane of sales will be directed towards hotel / hospitality professionals and their industry.
- Website and video promotion will begin prior to the official rollout of the book. Separate pages on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter designed only for the book series will be set up as well.
- A special book signing and reveal party in Dallas, Texas after receiving the completed book from the publisher. This event should attract more than 250 people at a minimum given his credentials in the hotel / hospitality industry within the DFW area.
- Beginning with the publication of the book in May, 2020, the author will begin a campaign of paid advertisements in publications that reach the target audience for the book of aspiring and published authors. Tentative plans include ads in Publisher’s Weekly, Booklist, The New York Times Book Review, Bookpage, and The Association of Christian Fiction Writers.
