Cognitive impairment is very common in schizophrenia. About 98% of patients with schizophrenia have lower cognitive performance than predicted function. The most common cognitive problems in schizophrenia are information processing, memory and learning. Considering the importance of visual memory in the daily routine of life and the effect of electrical stimulation on neuroplasticity, memory and learning, this research studied the effect of tDCS on visual memory, attention, visuomotor organization and thinking operation. The results of the study showed that brain electrical stimulation with tDCS can improve visual memory and attention in patients with chronic schizophrenia but has not altered more functional cognitive performances.
