First seen by the wider world at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-type redefined perceptions of how a sports car could – and perhaps should – look.

About the author

Originally from Norfolk, Phillip Bingham has spent more than 30 years writing about cars and motorsport. He has covered everything from Formula 1 to Land Rover’s Silk Trail Expedition, an 11,000-mile trek from the UK to India that crossed 13 countries and two continents on the dirt tracks, desert trails and high mountain passes of the trading routes that first connected Asia with Europe more than 2,500 years ago. This lifetime of extensive travel has given him a broad and balanced view of the global automotive industry. He spent 18 months with Performance Car magazine, which led to a 15-year association with the USA’s best-selling automotive publication, Motor Trend. Philip has written books about motor racing’s entry-level Ford, the Jaguar E-type and America’s favourite sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette.
