About the author

Clement Clarke Moore was born on July 15, 1779, in New York City. He received a BA from Columbia College in 1798 and an MA in 1801. Moore was the author of Poems (Barlett & Welford, 1844), which included the poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas.”

Summary

We have more than fifty versions of this wonderful poem in our library; this is one of our favorites. Illustrator Margaret Evans Price has a gentle talent. The Santa Claus on the cover, and throughout, is one of the kindest Santas ever imagined. This is an ideal first Night Before Christmas for a young child. With a pleasing die-cut shape, foil embossed cover elements, cloth accented spine, and double thick pages. This new board book version is based on a 1917 version, with charming full color illustrations.
