Evoking passion and heartbreak, intelligence and humanity, this collection of eight beautifully crafted stories explores the boundary conditions between the self and others. The social realities of our contemporary world -- racial and ethnic tensions, sexual harassment, and abuse -- provide the backdrop for struggles that ultimately take place in the heart, as Naslund's unforgettable characters struggle with love for each other and themselves. Written with the masterful sureness that has made Ahab's Wife a critical and popular success, these stories aptly display Naslund's extraordinary presence as one of today's most rewarding writers of fiction.
