Passé un moment de surprise, la servante fait part de sa réticence à voir disparaître la part d'héritage que le décès de la vieille dame supposait. Les neveux, informés à leur tour, expriment même leurs protestations : ils n'entendent pas renoncer à l'héritage convoité...
