Hybrid Additive Manufacturing: Techniques, Applications and Benefits explains the fundamentals of hybrid AM and its definitions, classifications and principles. In addition, it covers key techniques in hybrid AM, its applications, design guidelines, and benefits, with an emphasis on key aspects of the system integration process. The applications of hybrid AM in both metals and polymers are discussed in this book, as are geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing, material property enhancement, non-traditional surface finishing, in-situ sequential hybrid processing, and integrated process planning. This book will serve as an introduction to hybrid AM for researchers and engineers in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, electronics and materials science.

About the author

Guha Manogharan is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Pennsylvania State University. He heads the SHAPE Lab (Systems for Hybrid-Additive Process Engineering) and has extensive experience in both additive and hybrid manufacturing. His research interests include: design for additive-hybrid manufacturing, material development, system integration and multi-disciplinary application of additive-hybrid manufacturing. He has published over 20 papers in refereed journals and 1 book chapter. He received his BS degree in mechanical engineering from SASTRA University, India in 2007, and and his MS and PhD degrees in industrial and systems engineering from North Carolina State University, U.S. in 2009 and 2014 respectively. He served as the lead investigator of NIST-funded technological road-map development which was a major motivation for this book: CAM-IT, Consortium for Advanced Hybrid Manufacturing - Integrating Technologies. He serves in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers standards committee - B46 Classification and Designation of Surface Qualities and the Direct Digital Manufacturing technical group of Society of Manufacturing Engineers
