After an extraordinary mission of healing took place in the 1920s at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, many small prayer circles were formed to carry on the work of intercession.

About the author

J. Wilmer Gresham became the dean of Grace Cathedral in 1910, at the age of 39, and held that position for thirty years. One of Gresham's life goals was to foster healing of both soul and body. In the 1920s the cathedral hosted a healing mission, and participants began publishing a weekly newsletter, "The Healing Messenger" -- the origins of Wings of Healing. From 1939, Gresham served as dean emeritus until his death in 1958 at age 87.
