Le Fiancé de la pirate et ses avocats, Richter période vache... Les tableaux ne valent pas que pour leur titre et certains d'ailleurs n'en n'ont pas. J'écris « tableau » plutôt que carte postale car il s'agit de peinture. Mais on pourrait aussi les interpréter comme tableaux de théâtre ou d'opéra : moments où les décors changent à vue, sans que l'action ne soit interrompue par un noir ou un baisser de rideau. Comme on n'est pas au théâtre et même s'il y a aussi des « moments » dans la peinture, il faudrait plutôt parler d'états: lorsque les gilets jaunes font intrusion dans une image de Sigmar Polke ou quand le chien de Goya chahute un Mondrian, c'est une histoire de strates, de couleurs, de composition... et puis surtout une très grande joie.
The Pirates Fiancé and his Lawyers, Richter's 'Période Vache'... The paintings are not only worth for their titles and some of them do not have any. I write 'paintings' rather than postcards because it is about painting. But they could also be interpreted as theatre or opera sets: moments when the scenery changes on sight, without the action being interrupted by being in the dark or a curtain fall. Since we are not in the theatre and even if there are also 'moments' in the painting, we should rather talk about states: when the 'yellow vests' protesters intrude into an image of Sigmar Polke or when Goya's dog heats up a Mondrian, it is a story of layers, colours, composition... and above all a very great joy.
