Via Francigena in Hauts-de-France

The Via Francigena is an ancient pilgrimage route to Rome, dating back to the Early Middle Ages. In the year 987, Sigeric, a canon from Canterbury, was appointed Archbishop and set off on the journey to Rome to receive his liturgical decorative vestment from the Pope himself. During his return voyage, he recorded each stage on parchment. It is on these trails, on the section between Canterbury (GB) and Reims, that this guide book leads you to discover the landscapes and the rich heritage of the Hauts-de-France region.
