A sweet, suspenseful story of a baby badger and his dad with rich, atmospheric illustrations from Jane McGuinness.
Curious Baby Badger loves exploring. He is eager to see, and know, more of the world beyond his den. So, one night, his daddy takes him on a moonlit adventure through the still, black-and-white forest up above their underground home. And that sets Baby Badger's imagination soaring. What's daytime like? he wonders. What's next?

A tender father and son story of adventure, discovery and the comforting pull of home, paired with rich, evocative illustrations from Jane McGuinness.

About the author

I have written lots of picture book stories (including Mungo and the Picture Book Pirates, Dinosaurs in the Supermarket and Eleanor’s Eyebrows) and a few books for older children (of which my favourite is My Uncle Foulpest: Dinosaur Disaster). I write funny stories mostly, and, when I’m not writing for children, I write plays and I co-write musicals (with clever people who can write music because I can’t). I live in Surrey, which is very nice – but disappointingly empty of dragons.Jane was born in Glasgow; a big city, but a green one. She always liked the idea of being an author, but didn't realize for a long time that you were allowed to both write the words and draw the pictures if you wanted to! A BA in Illustration at the University for the Creative Arts in Maidstone helped Jane learn how richly drawings could tell stories – it was there where she rediscovered picture books, and there that she realized that she loves words as much as she loves pictures.

Report

"An utterly charming story that explores the inquisitiveness and curiosity of being a child and the nature of the parent/child bond." Fallen Star Stories
