He charmed her. He trapped her. Then he tried to kill her.

When experienced skydiver Victoria Cilliers' parachute failed and she plunged to the ground, it looked like an accident. But as she fought to recover from her injuries she was shocked to discover that the parachute had been tampered with, and that the police suspected her husband Emile.

In I Survived, Victoria writes with powerful honesty about her relationship with army sergeant Emile, and how the charismatic man she married gradually revealed a darker side, lying to her and chipping away at her self-worth until she was mentally exhausted and under his control. Further traumatized by her fall, she couldn't believe that her husband - the father of their two young children - wanted to murder her. How will she cope when Emile's trial brings more revelations into the open? And can she ever come to terms with the past?

Moving and inspirational, this is the story of a brave woman who was put through hell and yet found the strength to forge a new life for herself and her children.
