About the author

Richie Smith was born in South Shields on the North East coast and adopted as a toddler. It wasn't until he was 34 that he was finally diagnosed with autism. He now has two adopted children of his own and runs a successful business raising awareness of the needs of autistic people. Peter Barron, born and raised on Teesside, was the longest serving editor of The Northern Echo and continues to be a journalist, broadcaster and author.
