Herodoti Historiae by Herodotus Halicarnasseus are written in ancient Greek. This book (pars I) is distinguished by careful typing and proofreading. Unlike scanned old books, which often reveal quite a large number of typing errors and even (partly) missing pages, this book is a reliable copy of the work. The reader may expect a profound knowledge of ancient Greek on the part of the academic copy typist and proofreader. The editor publishes these works without any omissions. This text is faithful to the edition by Carolus Hude in 1908.
Herodoti Historiae by Herodotus Halicarnasseus sind Bücher in Altgriechisch.

About the author

Herodotus Halicarnasseus was born in Halicarnassus, in the Persian Empire, around 485 B.C. The "Histories" cover the reign of Croesus, king of Lydia (around 560 - 546 B.C.), and the reign of Cyrus of Persia (around 559 - 529 B.C.) in book I, and the further rise and fall of the Persian Empire in the remaining eight books. Herodotus systematically investigated the historic facts, and such became the father of history (pater historiae). He travelled for many years, and such became familiar with foreign tradition and culture. Most of his work is reliable, and in some cases the "Histories" are the only sources from which we derive our knowledge. Herodotus is widely appreciated for his knowledge and narrative style. Herodotus died around 425 B.C.
