Putting a new spin on old histories as my ten year old daughter stands in for a youthful me-the one I remember and the one I was never quite allowed to be-"Stories, 1986-88" pairs deadpan portraits with short narrative texts to bring the past into the present as we relive and rewrite my childhood stories through a restorative approach to image-making and storytelling.

About the author

Diane Durant is a nationally exhibiting artists. Her work has been published in Sun Magazine and featured online with Don't Smile, Don't Take Pictures, AINT-BAD, and Lenscratch. Her first monograph, Stories, 1986–88, is forthcoming from Daylight Books. In 2015, Diane took her adventuring to Wyoming as the Artist-in-Residence at Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area. The following year, her photographs were included in Bighorn Canyon's updated hiking guide, which was published by the Western National Parks Service. One of her photographs is currently included in a longterm temporary installation organized by the National Park Service at the Wyoming State Museum in Cheyenne. Diane is a member of both the Board of Directors for the Cedars Union, a non-profit arts incubator in North Texas, and the Leadership Team for the Society for Photographic Education's LGBTQ Caucus. She also serves as Chair of SPE’s South Central Chapter. In October 2018, Diane was named one of four inaugural Carter Community Artists with the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth.Dr. Sheree Gallagher is a Clinical Psychologist in Fort Worth, Texas.Andie McGurren is a 5th grader at the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts where she is concentrating in theatre and visual art. She spends most of her time dancing in the kitchen, singing in the shower, and avoiding chores because she's busy making "something." Andie looks forward to growing out her bangs as soon as she no longer has to have her mother's crazy childhood hair for this project.
