Dr. Steven L. Layne teaches courses in children's and adolescent literature at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. He also serves as a national literacy consultant, featured author, and keynote speaker at conferences and workshops throughout the United States and Canada. He is the author of three picture books published by Pelican, including the International Reading Association/Children's Choices selection The Teachers' Night Before Christmas. He is also the author of picture books for children--My Brother Dan's Delicious and Thomas's Sheep and the Great Geography Test--and a book of poetry for all ages, Verses for Dad's Heart. Steven Layne is also the author of the IRA's best-selling poetry collection, Life's Literacy Lessons: Poems for Teachers. Dr. Steven L. Layne holds degrees in psychology and education from Judson University, where he is professor and chair of graduate programs in literacy. He is the author of over thirty books, including two International Literacy Association/Children's Book Council Children's Choice award winners.
