Fernando Díaz-Plaja was born in Barcelona in 1918 and has taught in Italy, Germany, Brazil, the United States, and Spain. He has written more than ninety books dealing with Spanish history, letters, and society, including La Segunda República: Primeros pasos.
William W. Cressey is vice president and chief academic officer of the Council on International Education Exchange. He was director of International Programs at Georgetown University for thirteen years. Cressey has published extensively in theoretical and applied linguistics and language teaching methodology.
