Road traffic accidents are the leading cause of death among the developing population of the world. Motorcycle accidents are the most prominent type of accidents occurring in these countries especially in India. Motorcycle crash helmets do not provide adequate crash protection against facial trauma and Traumatic Brain Injuries. The severity of the injury depends on many factors such as the type of helmet (open or closed), the quality and build of the helmet and the fastening status of the helmet. Based on this study a large percentage of motorcyclists faced maxillofacial injuries and the crash helmets did not always provide adequate protection. Helmet type and fixation is an important characteristic for the better effectiveness and safety of the motorcyclists.
