A stable and efficient government is a prime need of the country. There may be several reasons for political instability but one prime reason is the unconcern of women which constitute half of the population of the country. But, their participation is not satisfactory because they are not politically aware. The present book is of great importance as the study on the political awareness of women is negligible. There is a great need of mass political participation and the sense of responsibility towards democratic India. Their non-participation may have far reaching implications. There has been criminalisation in politics. Thus it is more important in the present Indian context to study the process of political awareness among educated women. The present study has been done in Varanasi city as it is a politically important city as well as religious city. The aim of the study is to develop a theoretical framework and measure the political awareness and its dimensions.
