The Wolfgang Hahn Prize has been awarded for the past 25 years. Established in 1994 in honor of the Cologne-based collector Wolfgang Hahn, since then it has been presented once a year to an exceptional, internationally renowned artist who has hitherto remained lesser known in Germany.
But how did the prize come about? What artists have been recognized so far? And what happens behind the scenes of such a prize?
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary, the Gesellschaft für Moderne Kunst is offering insight into the Wolfgang Hahn Prize and the previous winners based on in some cases previously unpublished sources.
