Sustainable development is "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs". The principles of sustainable tourism based on environmental, economic and socio-cultural aspects of tourism development. To ensure long term sustainability of tourism should provide a balance between environmental, economic and socio-cultural dimension of tourism development. Sustainable tourism should ensure optimal use of environmental resources, respect for socio-cultural authenticity of the local community, long term economic activity and balanced distribution of socio-economic benefits to all social groups. Under the sustainable development of tourism means tourism development that improves the quality of life with respect to the carrying capacity of ecosystems. This leads to the key concept of sustainable tourism: quality, limitation and environment. Sustainable tourism is "tourism that is realized through the management of all resources in such a way that economic, social and environmental needs will be met while maintaining cultural integrity, important ecological processes, biodiversity and wildlife support system.

Cane Koteski nació el 01/07/1964 en Prilep, R. Macedonia del Norte. Obtuvo la licenciatura, el máster y el doctorado en 2010 en el Instituto de Geografía de la Facultad de Ciencias Naturales de la Universidad de Cirilo y Metodio de Skopje, en el Departamento de Enseñanza de la Geografía. Desde 2008 trabaja en la Universidad Goce Delcev - Stip, R. Macedonia del Norte.
