About the author

Blake Freeman is the author of Haibu Lost in New York, a Mom's Choice Award winner. He has been in the entertainment business for over 12 years as an actor, director, writer, and producer of film and television. The books he read as a child shaped his view of the world. With that in mind, he has always felt that wild animals need a voice, and therefore Haibu was created. Blake lives in Los Angeles, California.

After receiving a letter pleading for help for the elephants from a young girl in Côte d'Ivoire, Haibu and her friend Scotty head to the Ivory Coast. The stakes are high as poachers roam, but with the help of her new animal friends, Haibu and Scotty devise a plan that might just save the elephants.

Haibu is in partnership with WildAid, an environmental organization dedicated to protecting wildlife and stopping illegal trade. Haibu teaches children animal conservation and raises awareness about the situations and conditions animals live in the world today.
