If time and your patience allowed, I should be pleased to premise what I shall say by an extended consideration of the physiology and minute anatomy of the kidneys; but I must content myself with a very imperfect statement in relation thereto. I will take for granted your familiar acquaintance with the position, size, and general appear ance of the kidneys, but will refresh your memories as to the three elements constituting the organ.
We have a secreting structure, blood-vessels, and connective tissue.
