Key background influences in the work of Gilles Deleuze
The philosophy of Gilles Deleuze is influenced by, and a vital response to, the works of a variety of philosophers, writers and artists. This book, a complement to the first volume of Deleuze's Philosophical Lineage, presents studies of sixteen key figures drawn on by Deleuze, ranging from Lucretius to Schelling through to Foucault. Each chapter introduces the work of the thinker in question, explains the context in which Deleuze draws on this work and discusses the contribution that this work makes in the development of Deleuze's own ideas.
Deleuze scholars, as well as those new to Deleuze or from other disciplines such as Literary Studies, Cultural Studies or the Visual arts, will find invaluable resources in this helpful book.
