La proposition XVII du douzième livre, qui est pue_des plus importantes d'euclide, avait été regardée comme incomplète jusqu'à présent, à partir de l'alinéa de la page 196, jusqu'au corollaire de la page 205. J'ai fait voir dans une note placée au bas de la page 200 que cette démonstration était complète dans toutes ses parties et que tout l'embarras ne provenait que d'une figure mal construite.
