Alzatosi tranquillamente il globo fino ad una altezza che noi supponemmo pari a quella di Monte Gennaro, 1200 met., nulla si manifestò di singolare, e i tre aeronauti si vedevano far segnali di gioia dalla loro gabbia. Quando ad un tratto vediamo il pallone concepire un rapido moto rotatorio, ei tre aeronauti accovacciarsi dentro la gabbia. Ci accorgemmo che essi stavano per esser colti da un capogiro e ben presto vedemmo scendere rapidamente il pallone per un gran tratto, con caduta assai celere e quasi precipitosa. Indi fermata la discesa, correre orizzontalmente.
