En 884, un missionnaire ismaêlien, lbn-haucbah, qui auparavant avait été Duodécimain commença à prêcher ouvertement dans le Yémen. Il se rendit maitre de Çanâ, et envoya des missionnaires dans presque toutes les provinces de l'empire. Doux d'en tre eux allèrent lehomer, selon l'expression des Chii tes, le pays des Ketâmiens, dans la province actuelle de Constantine, et quand ils furent morts, Ibn - Hau cbab les remplaça par un de ses disciples, nommé Abou - Abdafiâh.
