This is primarily a message from a preacher to preachers. I do not pro fess to be an expert in the higher or any other sort of criticism, but am not without knowledge of the main conclusions of modern biblical scholar ship. I am convinced that the Chris tian minister must take account of these results in the work of the pulpit, not so much as homiletical material as forming a new atmosphere in which his message is delivered. Ibsen puts a profound saying in the mouth of one Of his characters: The eye, born anew, transforms the old action.
