Seyh Mecdüddn Bayram

Epics and Way of Wayfarer - Blessed lectures

This literal work entitled Epics of Sheikh Mecduddin and Way of Wayfarer in 1553 was written by Ilyas Ibn Isa who was the son of Sheikh Isa Mecdüddn. We published the two copies of manuscript and also added twenty two blessed lectures of Ibn Isa at the end of the epics which are found included in a corpus in Ankara National Library. bk. A3664-6, yk. 84b-87a.

The collection of those epics is extra important for its content giving detailed information about the cultural history Turkic language and particularly thoughts of Sufi Order and inner dimension of Islam. The work leaves a mark in readers mind like such a documentary for the reason of its reflecting historical reality together with travel notes and dairies of a traveller, Ilyas Celebi. Mecdüddn Efendi was from Bayramiyye Sufi Order so those epics contribute the studies on this subject by giving crucial information about the methods and practices since Haci Bayram-i Vel.
