"... an enjoyable story to read aloud, whether at school or at home." -- Goodreads Review 2021
"The story has loads of appeal and children will enjoy going to school with Fred and the little boy, and having fun with them and their adventures." -- Readers Favorite Review, 5 stars, 2021

After a happy summer playing together, the boy wants to take Fred the Snake to school! Fred is a friendly snake, but the students were nervous at first. Then Fred earned their trust and affection by playing real nice and twisting into fun things they needed, like a jump rope and soccer goal!

About the author

Peter Cotton is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the MUSC in Charleston. Now semi-retired, and encouraged by his grandchildren, he has so far written five books about Fred the friendly snake. The first one, When Fred the Snake got Squished and Mended, was a bed-time story to teach his small children to be careful crossing the street. When they had their own children, they asked "what happened to Fred-Fred?" Peter revamped the text, found a wonderful illustrator (Bonnie Lemaire in Canada) and started publishing the Fred the Snake series.
