About the author

Edward S. Krebes is a Professor Emeritus in Geophysics in the Department of Geoscience at the University of Calgary. He has published many peer-reviewed papers on seismic wave propagation theory in leading journals such as the Journal of Geophysical Research, Geophysics, Geophysical Journal International, and the Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America. He recently co-authored and published another book, Seismic Forward Modeling of Fractures and Fractured Medium Inversion (2017). He was an Associate Editor of the journal Geophysics. His primary research interests are in theoretical and computational seismology, and seismic wave propagation in particular.

Summary

This textbook is designed for senior students in geophysics, physics, mathematics, geology and engineering who want a focused and concise introduction to seismic wave theory. It is an invaluable teaching tool because of the detailed derivations of formulas, clear explanations of topics, and inclusion of student exercises with selected answers.
