About the author
John Powers is a travel photographer with world exploration in his blood. As a U.S. Army veteran, he spent 38 years in the military, traveling (and living) in many places around the world. He is a Vietnam veteran and has lived overseas in Italy (four years), Germany (three years), Kuwait (one year), and Japan (sixteen years). Since retiring six years ago, John has traveled and photographed throughout southeast Asia, focusing on Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, India, Myanmar (Burma), and the Philippines—using Japan as his home base. Now recently based in Los Angeles, John continues his exploits throughout Asia. He is an active member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), the Professional Photographers of Hawaii, and the Professional Photographers of California and its affiliate, the Professional Photographers of Los Angeles County. John holds the Master of Photography degree from the PPA.
