J'aurais bien voulu Messieurs et c etait presque mon de voir, vous présenter, à défaut du rapport annuel un apercu rapide des travaux accomplis tant en France qu'à l'étranger, depuis le dernier congrès des Orientalistes; et cette revue, si sommaire et incomplète qu'elle eût été, aurait montré quelle part honorable la Société continue de prendre aux progrès des études orientales. Mais à mon tour je suis obligé de me récuser.
