This book presents an approach for energy conservation by optimal sizing of grid connected AC irrigation pumps and a new methodology for sizing SPV powered DC irrigation pumps based on crop water requirements & local hydraulic field conditions. Sizing methodology includes crop water assessment, hydraulic head calculations and assessment of HP rating for irrigation pumps. A case study is taken up in the agriculture lands of Malaprabha Riverbed at Kittali village, Badami Tq, Bagalkot Dst, Karnataka, India (15.8351N-75.5394E) to identify energy conservation potential. Further, detailed analysis and energy conservation assessment is presented.

Basanagouda F. Ronad obtained B.E (2008) & M.Tech (2010) from VTU Belagavi and received Ph.D (2018) from Jain University, Bangalore. His areas of interest are Renewable Energy Applications, Power Electronics and Power Systems. He is working as Professor in Dept. of Electrical & Electronics Engg., Basaveshwar Engineering College(A), Bagalkot, India.
