In the present global manufacturing scenario, the manufacturers are in a need to produce a variety of products in mass with limited resources and constraints. Many tasks like cost reduction, resource utilization, inventory control and human resource management are to be addressed in a typical production environment. Since the manufacturing methods remain fixed well, the production schedule is to be optimized for the effective utilization of machines with proper control. Scheduling and sequencing is the most successful tool to provide optimal solution in any production scenario. There are varieties of shop floor environments with many objectives based on the demand. These objectives are influenced by critical resources/machines in it. Since, the due date based scheduling is the primary objective of any shop floor environment, the influence of critical machine(s) on time is to be studied. Therefore, this research focuses towards the study on impact of critical resources/machines for due date based scheduling. In order to accomplish this, the due date is assumed as lower bound and three corollaries are developed based on the objective of minimizing makespan from/to the lower bound.
