About the author

Frédéric Elsig teaches medieval art history at the University of Geneva, where he obtained his PhD with a thesis on Hieronymus Bosch. He is an expert on fifteenth- and sixteenth-century European art, and has helped organize several exhibitions, particularly El Renacimiento Mediterráneo (Madrid, 2001) and Hieronymus Bosch (Rotterdam, 2001). He was co-curator of La Renaissance en Savoie (Geneva, 2002) and with his seminar students is currently preparing the catalog of Dutch and Flemish paintings (prior to 1620) in the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire in Geneva.
