Such diversity as is illustrated above causes confusion in the commerce amon the different States, and a remedy is highly de sirable. It is t e general Opinion among weights and measures officials that the use of the bushel as a measure of quantity should be discontinued and that commodities commonly sold by this unit should be sold by weight. Several States have enacted legislation to this end within the past few years.
