Excerpt from Mediaeval Archives Of The University Of Oxford, Vol. 2

The Society has been fortunate to secure a short Intro duction for the first roll from Miss B. H. Putnam, of Mount Holyoke College, Mass., who issued in 1908 a volume on le Enforcement of the Statutes of Labourers (columbia University Studies in History, vol. Xxxn), and is a well-known authority on the Statutes of Labourers and the mediaeval Justices of the Peace. It is a satisfaction that she considers that the roll, long though it is, was well worth printing. She undertook the task at a very busy time, and the thanks of the Society are due to her.
