This book focuses on the increasing disparity between male and female public primary school teachers - a problem that has become a source of worry to many parents and educators globally. As a philosophical discourse, it employs logical analysis in search of answers to some perplexing questions that have made front-page headlines in some countries, like: Why Are There Too Few Male Primary School Teachers? Does the Shortage of Male Teachers Affect Pupils' Moral Development? What Can We Do to Motivate More Men to Teach Pupils? The book is built on two behavioural theories: the Social Role Theory and Eagly's Social Role Theory and is garnished with a thorough exegesis of such key concepts as education, teaching, modeling, primary school, moral development, gender imbalance, and more. It features a situation report of gender imbalance among public primary school teachers from around the world; a fresh study of Rivers State, Nigeria, explanations of the causes and implications of male teacher shortage and probable solutions for same. UKOHA OKENWA est un éducateur et un universitaire chevronné dont les recherches portent sur l'enseignement primaire, l'éducation aux valeurs et l'épistémologie.
