About the author

Anke Draude is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Otto Suhr Institute of Political Science, Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. Her research focuses on discursive shifts and conceptual innovations in the study of governance, aid, and development in areas of limited statehood.

Summary

This collection argues that areas of limited statehood – the lack of state capacities in most parts of the global South – provides opportunities for the governed to raise their voices and be listened to. It was originally published as an online special issue of the journal Third World Thematics.
