This small book places a big emphasis on the environment and life support systems upon which the working of diverse ecosystems depends. It tells the reader how critical it is to understand the trends of human overpopulation and habitation, construction and consumption, technology and nature, interconnectedness and diversity, and how all these elements transmute themselves into something new in the environment. The book simply asks the reader to consider the pressure that will grow from compound, cumulative, and excessive ecological stresses that result from self-centered and self-interested human activities.
