In gennaio 1894, poco dopo la mia nomina a direttore di que sto Osservatorio, nel prendere in consegna lo Stabilimento e le sue appartenenze, trovai il grande Equatoriale di Amici smontato dal suo piedistallo, e ricoverato, con altri strumenti, in un locale lon tano dall'0sservatorio, dove era stato collocato, negli ultimi tempi di tempel, 1 per sottrarlo da qualsiasi danno che avesse potuto re cargli lo stato allora rovinoso dell' Osservatorio.
