En 855, Sydroc revint en France avec une grande flotte; il remonta de nouveau la Seine, mais le sort lui fut contraire encore cette fois, de sorte qu'il fut battu par un des lieute nants du roi Charles; à ce qu'il parait, il se maintint pourtant dans le pays jusqu'à l'année suivante de 856.
