Through this work, the authors present a neglected disease of geographic distribution restricted to the neotropical region. It is a helminthiasis, which has as etiological agent the nematode Lagochilascaris minor whose natural definitive host is represented by wild felids and canids. In humans, the worm is lodged in the tissues of the neck, ear, mastoid, nasal sinuses, eyeball, oropharynx, dental abscess, lungs, central nervous system, or sacral region, causing a serious illness that can lead to death. It usually infects populations living in poor economic conditions alongside dense forest and using meat from wild animals as food. In the treatment uses anthelmintics, but it has little efficacy especially by the occurrence of worm's autoinfection cycle.
