Summary

Eat in tune with your body and lose weight—WITHOUT giving up the foods you love!

Work with, not against, your body. This self-help book, written by an expert on eating disorders, helps you reconnect with your natural hunger and fullness signals so you’ll know when to put down the fork. It’s the antithesis of “going on a diet” or “clean eating,” because it allows you to take one manageable step at a time while still enjoying your favorite foods . . . not a prescribed menu. Dr. Helen McCarthy’s unique retraining program bridges biology and psychology, putting the focus on altering specific habits, while also taking into account our resistance to change. She presents her concept of “the appetite pendulum,” including the science of taste buds and digestion, and explains how to eat only when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full, establish a new routine, tackle your saboteurs, prevent emotional eating, and maintain your new weight.
